CONQUERED SAMARKAND MARATHON

Samarkand Marathon, an annual international charity marathon, was held that weekend in Samarkand, one of the most beautiful cities of Uzbekistan.

Traditionally, this event is held in order to realize a certain charitable mission. This year all the funds raised from the run will be spent for the construction of children's sports grounds.

The marathon program included races at distances of 2, 5 and 10 km, 42.2 km (marathon) and 21.1 km (half marathon), and KIDS RUN as well. The runners started and finished at Registan Square. The route passed through the central streets of Samarkand, so all participants had a chance to enjoy the sights of the city, like ancient madrasas and minarets, and the wonderful weather favored.

“The fifth international race was attended by 18 employees of UzLITI Engineering (13 men and 5 women)”, said Vasily Pats, Head of the Sports Department of the company. “Our athletes ran at four distances - 2, 5, 10 and 21 kilometers. The following our participants were ranked high: Alexey Kornienko - 38th result in 10 km distance, Olesya Nemtsova, the same discipline among women, took 48th place, and Nikolay Volkov finished in 43rd place in the half marathon. And these results are good enough, considering the fact that more than three thousand people from 43 countries participated in the race.

It is also worth noting that Nikolai Volkov was running as a pacesetter, a runner who leads and sets the pace in middle and long distances during a certain distance.

To summarize, it should be said that participation in the Samarkand Marathon has become a good tradition for employees of our company, and it will certainly be continued in the future!
