Sport plays a special role in the lives of UzLITI Engineering employees. Many of them not only actively do sports in their free time, but also regularly participate in various competitions held both domestically and abroad.
The ZAAMIN ULTRA marathon has become another event in which more than 35 employees of the engineering company took part. The race was organized on the territory of the Zaamin National Nature Park, and the route ran through rugged terrain with many ups and downs. At the same time, each participant could choose the distance according to their abilities. There have been organized 2 and 10 km races as well as the 25 km half-marathon and 50 km marathon.
“I ran the maximum distance of 50 kilometers,” told Nikolai Volkov, a participant of the marathon. The weather conditions were challenging as it was very hot. The first half of the distance passed well enough, but after the U-turn, a very long uphill stretch started. At this point I experienced significant difficulties.
By the finish, as they say, I got my second or third breath (laughing). As a result, I came 9th out of 37 who reached the finish line. Though the result is not bad, but there is a lot to strive for. Of course, I'll analyze the whole race and try improve my techniques and endurance”.
Other two runners, Anton Yatsevyuk and Vasiliy Kononov made the distance of 21 kilometers and took their well-deserved places in the overall standing.
All of our team members successfully completed their chosen distances and at the finish line each received a commemorative medal. They also noted excellent organization of ZAAMIN ULTRA, which covered not only good arrangement of the route and creating of comfortable conditions for athletes, but also the provision of various activities and entertainment. Our employees expressed special thanks to the company management for supporting their enthusiasm in sports and assisting with the transportation arrangements to Jizzakh region.
There will be many more competitions to come and UzLITI Engineering athletes will have new opportunities to demonstrate their excellence in sports!
